My Studio
Here's just a few pictures of areas of my studio. I'll be adding more later showing me working on processes involved in making glass beads, as soon as I can get someone to take pictures for me.
The first picture is my glass storage area. It's an antique mail sorter. I added PVC pipes into the cubicles to create more space.
The second picture is my kiln for the annealing process. Everything goes directly from the torch to the kiln.
The third picture is my torch with the oxygen concentrator hooked up to it. The torch is made by Nortel and it's actually two torches in one. The large torch is called a Mid-Range and the small torch on top is called a Minor. I use the Minor most of the time, and then if a piece I'm making gets pretty big, I switch over to the Mid-Range for more heat and a bigger flame. I use the concentrator instead of tanked oxygen. I love it. An endless supply of oxygen and no lugging heavy tanks around to get refilled, and no running out of oxygen in the middle of making something! I do keep a small tank of oxygen on hand, but use it if I need to do an off-site demo. You don't see my fuel source here because I use natural gas instead of propane. Again, another endless supply with no tanks to refill and much safer.
The picture below of me is an older picture using the smaller Minor torch on the top. At that time I was still using tanked O2. And my workbench was just as messy then as it is today! Guess I'll have to clean it up some day to do a tutorial.
